Individual Health Insurance

Guidelines

Individual health insurance is much different then group insurance.  The main differences are:

1.  Group Insurance:  You do not need to Health Qualify; the carrier "must" insure you.  However, they may be able to impose a pre-existing waiting period on certain medical conditions if no other continuous coverage has been in place.  Rates are generally higher then individual as rates are based on the blended "average" age of employee and the demographics of the group (ie., how many males vs females etc).

2.  Individual Insurance:  You must complete a 50 question health questionnaire/application that outlines your basic health history.  Rates are generally lower then a group policy as they are individually age rated.  However you may be denied coverage if you have pre-existing health conditions (i.e. Diabetes, pregnancy, Heart Disease etc).

We recommend you speak to us about both these options to better determine which direction is best suited for you and your employees.

Its Strongly Recommended that you "NEVER" terminate your health coverage until you have approval from another insurance carrier with a group number in hand.
